From Customer Feedback to a Smoother, Safer Cup Rim

While developing a stainless steel vacuum bottle for a new customer, we received a useful comment during the sample review.

The customer was satisfied with the bottle’s appearance, insulation performance and overall feel. However, they noticed that the original rim felt slightly sharp. It was a small detail, but one that could affect comfort when drinking, handling or cleaning the bottle.

We believed it was worth improving.

Refining the Rim, Not Just Polishing It

Our team reviewed the rim structure, edge profile and lid fit rather than simply polishing the existing edge.

After several adjustments and sample tests, we refined the rim-forming process and improved the rolled edge profile. More precise deburring and polishing were then added to create a softer, more rounded transition around the top of the bottle.

The improved rim now feels smoother to the touch, with none of the harsh edge sensation found on the earlier sample. The change also preserves the bottle’s original capacity, appearance, structural strength and sealing performance.

Small Details Make a Real Difference

Once the modification was completed, we checked the sample again for rim comfort, visual consistency, lid compatibility and ease of cleaning.

The result was a cleaner and more rounded cup rim that felt noticeably better in everyday use. The customer approved the updated sample, and the improvement will be carried forward into future production.

For us, customer feedback is more than a list of requested changes. It often reveals opportunities to make a product more practical and enjoyable.
